International students, scholars, and faculty arrive in the US most often accompanied by spouses and children. In recent years, researchers have focused on the experiences of these dependents, looking at variables like well-being, cultural adjustment, and social support. In this session I will provide a review of these studies and their findings. Then, I will encourage attendees to think critically about how their departments interact with international families, while providing them with the tools for creating a more inclusive campus community for international dependents.
