Presentation Description:

Students are demanding that universities provide more practical work experience to better prepare them for the world of work, following graduation. While this has been offered through internships previously, this session will look at a new industry focused classroom-based model that combines the best parts of a traditional academic class with integrated industry experience. The presenters will highlight why this classroom-based model is more inclusive and sustainable than an internship, and why this model is an essential offering for today's study abroad student.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the session, attendees will have background and insight into career focused study abroad programs and be able to describe and discuss why this type of program is essential in today's study abroad market.
Attendees will be able to state why classroom-based study abroad programs are more inclusive and sustainable than traditional internships.
Presenters will illustrate 3 classroom-based industry classes and attendees will be able to identify what makes a good industry based study abroad program.
