Dr. Santiago is a professor of French language and Francophone literatures at the University of Puerto Rico - Mayagüez Campus. She has been coordinator of student and scholar services at the University of Puerto Rico since 2013. She also worked as Director of Institutional Rankings and Global Alliances at the UPR’s Central Administration. She regularly makes presentations and is called upon for advice, given her experience and knowledge regarding international student and scholar issues, as well as, Internationalization in Higher Education. She was featured in NAFSA’s International Educator Magazine “Hispanic Heritage month: Elevating Voices in the Field, October 2022. She collaborated in “Trendspotting 2022: What’s Next for the Field?” January 2022. In 2021 and 2022, she lead a round table discussion and moderated a panel for the Latin America and Caribbean Forum at the NAFSA annual conference. She served as the Puerto Rico State Representative in NAFSA’s Region VII Leadership Team since 2017 until 2022. Currently, she serves in NAFSA's LDC team.
